Position: Art Curator

Reports to: Director of Art and Design

Job Summary:
The Art Curator will be responsible for managing and overseeing the art collection and exhibitions within the organization. This role involves the selection, acquisition, preservation, and display of artwork to enhance the organization's artistic vision and engage audiences. The Art Curator will work closely with artists, collectors, museum staff, and other stakeholders to curate and coordinate exhibitions, develop educational programs, and ensure the proper care and maintenance of the art collection.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Curate and develop exhibitions that align with the organization's artistic vision and objectives.
2. Research, select, acquire, and commission artwork for the organization's collection.
3. Collaborate with artists, collectors, and other stakeholders to secure loans and donations of artwork.
4. Develop and implement strategies for the display and presentation of artwork in exhibitions and galleries.
5. Coordinate and oversee the installation, de-installation, and transportation of artwork.
6. Conduct thorough research on artists, artworks, and art movements to enhance exhibition content.
7. Write engaging and informative exhibition texts, labels, and catalog entries.
8. Develop and deliver educational programs, guided tours, and workshops related to exhibitions and the art collection.
9. Manage and maintain accurate documentation, records, and inventory of the art collection.
10. Ensure the proper care, preservation, and conservation of artwork in accordance with industry standards.
11. Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote exhibitions and engage audiences.
12. Develop and maintain relationships with local and international artists, collectors, and galleries.
13. Stay updated on current trends, developments, and best practices in the field of art curation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience as an Art Curator or in a similar role within a museum, gallery, or art institution.
3. In-depth knowledge of art history, art movements, and contemporary art practices.
4. Excellent research and analytical skills to curate engaging exhibitions and develop educational programs.
5. Strong organizational and project management abilities to handle multiple exhibitions simultaneously.
6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information about artwork to diverse audiences.
7. Proficiency in cataloging and collection management software.
